Your take on this project

Latest public update

CDOT's project page prints a Construction Cost of $10 million for replacing the US 6 bridge over Elk Creek and expects the project to be complete by November 2026. CDOT's October 2026 dashboard prints $6.57M paid to date and $3.98M remaining on a current contract value of $10.55M. That is the one construction contract. Its value and the page's construction cost are two figures CDOT prints for different things, and this site adds neither to the other. CDOT's page names New Castle, which is in Garfield County, and tags the project Mesa County.

Open questions for the state (2)

  • CDOT's page prints a $10 million construction cost and its October dashboard a $10.55M current contract value. What does each cover?
  • The dashboard prints no change-order figure. What moved the contract from its $10.09M original amount to $10.55M?

Total cost and spending

Total project cost$10.0M

Total cost & funding are drawn from the official record(s) listed below.

Paid to the contractor: $6.57M of $10.55M on the one contract CDOT publishes a dashboard for. FACT CDOT’s monthly dashboard prints what has been paid to that contract’s contractor to date, and the contract’s current value. Both are CDOT’s printed figures, not ours. They are payments on that one contract, not the project’s whole spend: anything paid outside it is in neither figure, and nobody publishes that. CDOT’s latest published dashboard: October 2026.

Pacing

Money paid against contract time used, from CDOT's monthly dashboards for October 2026, the latest in the record. CALC

  • Bridge replacement contract Paid 62.3% of the contract with 77.6% of its time used: 15.4 percentage points behind an even pace, $1.62M less.

An even pace is our baseline, not CDOT's plan. A gap is a question to ask, not a verdict, and it compares money with time, not with the work done.

The money is published; the names are held. Each row below carries the contract value, what has been paid to date so far as it is published, and our confidence grade — the same figures as always, from the same official records. What is withheld is the vendor's name, the record link that names it, and the campaign-finance search that sat beside it. That is a deliberate decision taken pending legal review, not a figure we could not find: a blank cell would have said the opposite. What WITHHELD means
