Every figure here is an estimate by Legislative Council Staff on the date shown, about the version of the bill in front of them that day. It is not a cost.

The appropriation

The bill carries its own money. A note saying a bill “requires and includes” an appropriation means the money is in the bill itself.

An appropriation is money the legislature sets aside. It is not money spent.

The appropriation field, read from the note: For the current FY 2025-26, the bill requires and includes a reduction in appropriations of $8.7 million from the Department of Health Care Policy and Financing.

Bill summary

The act prohibits the department of health care policy and financing (department) from making a wage enhancement supplemental payment to an eligible nursing home provider regardless of when the services were provided. The act reduces the 2025-26 state fiscal year appropriation to the department for medical and long-term care services for medicaid eligible individuals by $4,359,961.
