Works Better Corporation, a nonpartisan public benefit corporation, builds this site.

Independent public-records project, separate from the City and County of Denver and from every party and campaign.

Every number carries one of four labels (FACT, CALC, SAMPLE or PENDING) and a source you can open.

Denver projects · 2026

Projects

Every capital project the City and County of Denver publishes for 2026, each on one row, with the capital budget it is a part of. Below them are the State of Colorado’s own projects in the city, a different government’s money, kept apart. Each project opens its own page.

The city’s own capital money

FACT
This is the city’s own capital money. Every figure in this section and in the table of projects is Denver appropriating Denver’s money to Denver’s projects. State projects in Denver, further down this page, is a different government — the State of Colorado’s capital money at sites inside the city — and no figure here is ever added to a figure there. Two governments spend money in the same place; this site keeps them apart on principle.

This is not a “major projects” list. It is every capital project the city publishes for 2026 — all 140 of them, down to $5,000. They come from the Final 2026 budget book’s five “Projects by Agency” schedules, and every one of those schedules reconciles to its own printed Grand Total, to the dollar, before a row of it appears here.

Capital appropriated by project CALC
$269.3M
Exactly $269,316,418. The five capital funds Denver publishes project by project, added — each one’s own printed Grand Total. A part of the capital budget, not the whole, and the city prints no total for these five together.
All capital improvement funds FACT
$659.9M
Total CIP Expenditures by Fund, 2026 — the city’s own printed capital total, all seven fund groups. Printed twice in one table, by fund and by department, and the two halves agree exactly. Stated in whole thousands.
Projects published CALC
140
Rows on this page, counted: 15 in the Winter Park Parks and Recreation Fund, 73 in the Capital Improvement Fund, 23 in the State Conservation Trust Fund, 19 in the Parks Legacy Capital Improvement Fund, 10 in the Entertainment and Cultural Capital Fund. No publisher states this number — it is a count of what the five schedules print.
Spent so far, by project NOT PUBLISHED
—
Denver publishes no spending by project. Each schedule carries exactly one money column, “2026 Appropriated”: no spend to date, no encumbrance, no prior-year actual against a named project. An appropriation is permission to spend, not spending. No estimate is offered here, because a plausible one would be indistinguishable from a published figure.

The capital budget, and the part of it published project by project

Denver’s capital budget is seven fund groups. Five of them print a project list and two do not — the bond funds and the grant-funded capital funds are published as fund totals and no finer, anywhere in this book. This table is the city’s own citywide capital table, with a column saying which is which. It is printed in whole thousands, so the figures here are shown abbreviated rather than to a dollar the city never stated.

The five schedules, and the three figures each one prints

Each fund publishes its whole 2026 appropriation and, separately, the part of it assigned to named projects. The gap between them is that fund’s contingency — money inside the capital budget held against nothing in particular. Both figures are true and they are a few million apart, so both are printed here rather than one of them being quoted against the other.

Five funds—140$269,316,418$7,366,942
The Parks Legacy Capital Improvement Fund prints no contingency line at all, which is why its cell is a dash rather than a zero. The four that do print one sum to $7,366,942, which the citywide table above carries, rounded to whole thousands, as its own $7.4M contingency row.

All projects

Every capital project Denver publishes for 2026, each on one row, largest first. The accounting code is the city’s own: the fund-org that holds the money, then the project code. Both are printed exactly as the book prints them, including one fund-org the book prints a digit short. Where a schedule prints no department heading above its groups, the city agency column is a dash rather than a guess. Each project name opens that row’s own page.

What is deliberately not here

State projects in Denver

FACT
This is the State of Colorado’s money, not the city’s. These are projects the STATE appropriates or is asked to appropriate, at sites inside Denver. No figure here is part of the city budget above, and none of it is ever added to one. Two governments spend money in the same place; this site keeps them apart on principle.

The enacted capital schedule and the committee’s figure-setting document name an institution or a facility and publish no address, no county and no coordinate. Placing them is our claim, made once and graded: A where the document names the town itself, B where it names a facility whose location is a matter of public record but is not in the document. This section filters on the town, not the county — a county is not a city, and a county-keyed filter would put a neighboring town’s project under this city’s name.
