The fine print
A checkbook that counts a different set of entities than the budget book, and what the Lakewood pages do not cover yet, said plainly.

PENDINGThe checkbook counts different entities than the budget book
One entity is deliberately outside the budget book’s total. The Lakewood Reinvestment Authority is a separate legal entity, and the book states it is not presented there. The city’s own checkbook includes it. Two publishers, two perimeters — these pages never reconcile one against the other raw.
The checkbook is not read here yet, and one of its files shows why care is needed. The file the city links as “2024 Expenses” covers January through September of 2024, by its own preamble — nine months under a twelve-month name. Any figure read from it will state its own coverage window first, or it will not be published.
What these pages do not cover yet
- The Lakewood City Council. These pages do not cover council votes or ordinances yet. The budget figures on Lakewood’s pages come from the city’s own 2026 Adopted Budget book.
- Education. Lakewood’s schools belong to a county-wide district, so every figure it publishes is larger than the city. None is published here until it can carry its district boundary on its face. The What It Buys page says why.
- Revenue and household taxes. Where the money comes from, the city’s sales tax and its property tax levy are named as not read yet, on the dashboard and on the Budget page.
